Idea #5: Pair shorts with Sweaters and Boots

Idea #1: Bulky Sweaters + Linen Shorts

This idea is my favorite right at the end of summer/beginning of fall because some mornings start off brisk and some afternoons really heat up! Having a big bulky sweater over my linen shorts makes my bottom half feel nice and cool while keeping my top half cute and warm. If I get too hot, I remove my sweater! Easy-peasy-cute-and-breezy.

Idea #2: Knee High Socks + Above the Knee Dresses

It’s not quite time for Knee High Boots or leggings, so pairing some knee highs with a shorter dress, makes for a super cute go-go look! If you get hot half way through the day, peel those socks off and rock that dress solo! I also love pairing knee-high socks with my clogs! It really brings together the dressiness of the outfit!

Idea #3: Secret Layers under Longer Summer Dresses

When I lived in New York City last year, I wore this dress SO MUCH during the fall because it was easy to throw on some leggings underneath on colder fall days! I walked across Central Park to a coffee shop on a really cold morning, and by the time I walked back home, I was able to take my leggings off and let my legs breathe during the warmer afternoon. It was also easy to layer cardigans or sweaters and pull it all together with a belt that matched my boots. I wasn’t sure I liked this kind of dress length on me, but now that I’ve learned so much about layering, I would be VERY open to buying more dresses or skirts this length!

Idea #4: Layer up those Tank Tops

Before you pack away your summer clothes, specifically your sleeveless pieces, layer them into your outfits by pairing them with sweaters and pants! You can always shed the sweater as they day warms up!

Idea #5: Pair shorts with Sweaters and Boots

If anyone does this well, it’s Steffy. She knows how to rock shorts throughout the entire Autumn/Winter season by pairing them with sweaters, boots, leggings, tights, scarves— she’s amazing at it. I’m wearing linen shorts with a chunky sweater and have added boots to keep my feet warm! I think a chunky belt could have been cute with the outfit I’m wearing. I could also have added an extra sweater if it was cold outside (unfortunately, it’s still in the 80’s in Texas!).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE transitioning my closet from summer to winter! Were these tips helpful for you? Do you have new ideas for how you can pair outfits in your own closet?
