The Conservancy Garden Central Park | Places to Visit in NYC

A garden is never finished, as it is constantly changing. -Diane, from The Central Park Conservancy

People are similar in my opinion. We are never finished, always changing with the seasons. There are growing seasons. Blooming Seasons. Pruning Seasons. Bare and very cold Seasons. Seasons of death, Seasons of new life. It's a privilege to see the Conservatory Garden blooming this year, amidst what feels like sadness and chaos.

If you ever visit New York City in the spring or summer, I would add this to my list of places to visit or eat lunch at in a heart beat. Pack a lunch or grab some to go and enjoy the quiet and beauty of this Central Park garden. So many people go to Bethesda Fountain when they visit Central Park (and I totally get it, it’s pretty and iconic), but The Conservatory Garden is a breath of fresh air.

I didn’t know this until I was researching the Conservatory Garden, but there’s a fountain memorial for Francis Hodgson Burnett, who wrote The Secret Garden. I felt a rush of chills when I found out, because this is the garden I’ve been going to, specifically to read and be still. While I can’t read there during our shelter-in-place, I can still walk through, and that brings me so much joy.

I’m SO pumped to be able to see this garden change and grow this season. I’m so grateful for the hope and life the Central Park Conservancy is still able to give our city through their time and care of Central Park.

I’m grateful I am like a garden, always changing, moving through seasons that grow me.
