What Is The Best TV Episode You've Ever Seen? | Question of the Week

Interesting Questions to ask your friends over drinks

This week is our very first question for our Question of the Week series!

If you’re the kind of person who longs to get to know other people beyond the surface, it never hurts to have a solid question or two in your back pocket. My goal with question of the week is to encourage you to get to know others around you with intentional questions.

This week, I’m answering my own question! But if you’re reading along, I’d love to hear your answer in the comments!

I love hearing what my friends’ or co-workers’ favorite television shows are. But have you ever asked someone what their favorite episode of television is…. ever? of all time?

I’m not even sure I can answer my own question, but I’ve been thinking about it all week.

I feel I can only answer for the television I’ve watched this year. But one day, I hope I can actually pick what my favorite TV episode of all time is. It just so happens we watched this episode for our weekly Film Club.

Master of None's Season 3 Episode 4.

This Film Club choice was my own (yes, we can choose TV episodes as well as movies) and while I continue to tell myself I want to pick something I've never seen before when it comes to my Film Club choices, I knew after watching episode 4, I had to discuss it with the other people in our club. I believe episode 4 is a masterpiece and one of my favorite episodes of television ever. It chronicles the lonely and brave journey of a lesbian's journey through infertility and IVF. It’s a slow and raw depiction of the more mundane and real parts of IVF. It’s a beautiful work of art and the acting deserves an Emmy.

Aziz Ansari directed this episode and pretty much leaves the camera in one spot while allowing the actors to walk in and out of the frame. While critics didn’t love all of Master of None’s Season 3 (I actually really enjoyed it, even with it’s slow portrayals and VERY different storyline than previous seasons), this episode was a standout episode that doesn’t even need the other episodes to be enjoyed. So, if you have some free time this week and want to learn more about the IVF journey, I would HIGHLY recommend this episode.
