The Today Show Wedding with Hoda and Al Roker | Mindy and Ben
As an elopement photographer with a passion for capturing the authentic. you-i-ness of couples, I had the privilege of being part of Mindy and Ben's whirlwind Today Show wedding that still so authentically them even though it was a complete production that moved SO SO quickly. I received an email from them ONE WEEK before their wedding asking if I was available on a weekday to photograph their elopement. The best part about being an elopement photographer is the fact that I’m available very last minute for weddings of all shapes and sizes. But this is not about me… this is about Mindy and Ben.
Their engagement story began with a surprise proposal on The Today Show earlier in February 2023. After their proposal the producers loved them SO much, they invited them BACK to The Today Show for a LIVE ceremony officiated by Hoda, with Al Roker walking Mindy down the aisle. Let me tell you, their love really captured the hearts of America— they are just so genuinely in love with one another.
As their last minute wedding photographer, I had the incredible opportunity to capture the behind-the-scenes moments of Mindy and Ben's special day. From their family’s nervous excitement before the ceremony, to the genuine joy from the cast and crew as they said their "I dos," every moment was a testament to their love. My biggest challenge was making sure I didn’t run in front of live camera as I snapped their wedding ceremony.
Following the live broadcast, Mindy and Ben embarked on a city adventure in the scorching heat of New York Summer so we could grab iconic photos of them in their wedding attire. Despite the temperature, these two were absolute troopers, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Sometimes the best wedding photos are taken on the hottest of days.
While I recommend booking your elopement photographer as early as possible, the spontaneity of Mindy and Ben's wedding highlights the benefits of having a photographer available on short notice. You can still get amazing photos with a same-week or short notice elopement, and I think the photos really do capture the fun energy of Mindy and Ben’s wedding day.
