Coffee Table Photo Box | Easy Gift DIY

Coffee table interchangeable picture frame idea

If you’re in need of a last minute EASY gift DIY or an altogether intentional addition to your coffee table, this Photo Box is just about as intentional AND easy to assemble as they come.

All you need to make this unique to you:

Easy way to frame and change out pictures
an alternate minimalistic way to display pictures in your home
  • 10-100 of your favorite photos printed according to the dimensions of each cubby of your box. The cubbies on my glass box are 4x6. Online photo labs make printing pictures from our phones easy and cheap, the REAL reason I love this project so much. Do a quick google search and you’ll find a handful of labs that will even print your first few photos free.

  • A photo box, which is actually referred to as a jewelry box, but who says we can’t repurpose it?! You can find a similar gold jewelry box here and here.

  • Blank Notes Cards and a marker (for extra prettiness, you could use a paint brush and watercolors like I did).

The idea for this DIY came from my love for documenting life in words and pictures + my inability to scrapbook. Ya feel me?

I used to scrapbook in middle school and high school, but nowadays we (Well, I) take photos at an alarmingly fast rate, the idea of scrapbooking seems overwhelming.

But documenting and remembering our lives is really important to me. So, I printed off an assortment of pictures of people we love and moments we want to remember, and I just threw them into this PhotoBox. I interchange them regularly. That’s it!

That’s why this is the perfect Christmas DIY, it’s a way to remember those we love who are both near and far. The best way to remember is to put this PhotoBox somewhere close to you. We use our coffee table every second of every day, so we are always looking at our Photo Box. We change out the pictures and cards often.

What are the Cards for?

For those who enjoy a more hands-on component, I used some water and water color paint to hand-letter names of people who have loved or supported us over the years on individual cards. There’s a section in our box just for those cards.

These cards hold more a spiritual concept for Brett and I. For the longest time, I would never remember to pray for others. But every time I glance at the name on the visible card in our Photo Box, I’m reminded to pray for someone. Sometimes I take the cards out and sift through them, praying for every name I see.

Other great ideas for this box:

How I remind myself to pray for others
Easy reminders in your home to remember to pray for others.
  1. Print off photos and write out what you remember about that moment on the back of the picture. It’s not as pretty as scrapbooking, but at least you’re taking the time to write out what’s most important to you about that memory.

  2. For the back of the name Cards, you could write out ways you can love, support, and pray for those people. You could write out birthdays for each person in their family.

  3. Need a place to store your Instax Pics? This frame would be the perfect place to throw them in! No organization necessary!

  4. Are you wanting to gift this to a far away friend? It would be so easy to send the frame and the photos separately.
